Its interesting that every character has a double whereas i play two characters, Leonardo’s wife and the servant whose raised the bride since her childhood. There is a stark contrast between the two: the wife is the Brides cousin, she is hopelessly in love with Leonardo , she has a child and is on her way to have another one. Leonardo likes her but cannot bring himself to love her the way he loves the bride. She is very fragile, that infact that is one word David associates with her all the time, helplessly trying to hold on to Leonardo. The servant is a member of the brides household whose always been there , she has raised her and wants to see her happily married , the only soothing figure for the bride.
Its actually an incredible experience working with a director who has so much experience. His style is based on the Chekhov technique of acting , which uses the power of images to better express emotions. As an actor it is a wonderful opportunity to explore yourself . The training we have in the workshop enhance your skills so much that , when performing one starts concentrating on the inner being of the character. It is a holistic, psychological experience. You actually feel you are ‘in the skin’ of the character. David has a wonderful way of teaching and has an example and a story ready for every moment he wants u to feel on stage. Blood Wedding is a really interesting play which every one should watch.
Im a student, I study journalism and i love being on stage. I guess im my happiest on stage. Though i’m not a trained actor , i love performing. My friends call me a real life drama queen because even without realizing every action and expression of mine is full of nautanki. Apart from this i like writing and reading. Wonderful experience working for Blood Song for which id like to thank Mr.Rathna Shekar Reddy an incredible director himself and i’ve had the privileged to work with him too.
