Abhinav Gomatam: Being Samahaarian

I AM A SAMAHAARIAN BECAUSE THEATRE IS MY PASSION
A graduate in Instrumental & Control Engineering, Abhinav Gomatam always visualized himself to be the guy behind the camera. Then what was it that made him chose to be in the shoes of the one performing in front of it? An inter-college level MIME act!

Yes, you heard it right! And isn’t it obvious, the guy most famous for his mimicry of personalities famous or not, would realize his potential to act through a mime act which fetched him the second prize at an inter-collegiate level. Actually, we have his unknown senior to thank, if not for him convincing Abhinav to perform in the act, Hyderabad theatre would have missed out on a good and a very versatile actor.

Abhinav is thankful to a lot more people in his life who helped him at every turn on his path to pursue acting. One such is another friend who took him to the Actors Studio when he was in search of local theatre groups. There he met Rathna Shekar Reddy and his long association with Samahaara began.

Having worked with Four quartets, Clockwork Productions, D Fir Dramatics; Samahaara remains special to him because it was not only where his journey had begun, but also where he learnt a lot of nuances of acting under Rathna Shekar Reddy and David Zinder, and got to put it to practice transitioning into an experienced and a more mature actor.

Abhinav says “I Am a Samahaarian because Theatre Is My Passion”.

And these are not mere words but backed by his actions where he skillfully maintained a balance between his job at Dell (which lasted for 2 yrs) and performances in three theatre productions during the same time frame. He quit his job to pursue his passion, full time!
