Samahaara Acting School

We are proud of our team. Or as they call themselves, Samahaarians. Sounds like a race. Maybe we are? There is an eclectic mix-people from all professions, whatever their calling, their day-job, their work-they come together to do theatre. There are full-time actors, theatre professionals, and the founders themselves, but mostly the group is full of dynamic professionals, students and others who indulge their love for acting and performing. They dedicate time and energy, committed to creating something we come to love. Together.

The scene in Hyderabad has picked up since we began all those years ago. We like to think we have contributed immensely to the scene. Hell, chuck the modesty. We are the scene, or at least a major part of it. A flourishing theatre scene brings to the front actors of different calibre and experience. Performers all, needing to get it out, from mirror to rehearsals to an open audience, ready to judge, to love or hate, to opine and to discuss. Add to this, short-films. Not a day goes by without getting a call from a ‘short-film maker looking to cast Samahaara actors’ in their project. Add to this the busiest industry yet-Telugu films. Many of our actors have worked in Telugu movies, from leads to supporting cast.

When we started out, Rathna Shekar Reddy, our founder, himself trained at the prestigious Lee Strasberg, coached many upcoming actors exclusively for films. Then he became the chief acting faculty for AISFM.

The demand and more importantly, the need for a comprehensive part-time acting course is pertinent. There is a void in Hyderabad, for people looking to keep their job or work the movie-scene during the day (auditions, meeting people, gym/dance lessons) and at the same time train themselves. For when that One Chance arrives, no one on the set waits for you to prepare and take your time. Time is money in the industry and preparation, as you can see, is key for the Actor.

We at Samahaara have always had Respect for Acting, something we take a day of every workshop and course to talk about. This respect comes from treating Acting like the art that it is. And the craft that it is. One needs to think with their heart and feel with their heads. Sounds complicated?

It’s not. And this is just the beginning of what you can expect to learn at Samahaara Acting School.
