Farewell. The problem with a huge huge cast: My Facebook page gets flooded with pics. I mean, if I saw one bunch of pics then I’ve seen everything. On top of that, there were about 50 different photographers* at the play yesterday at NIFT auditorium, Madhapur arriving at a non-Hyderabadi Standard time, 7:30 PM sharp. Opening to a sold out show*, we closed the door and sat on the floor** to enjoy the show. (*slight exaggeration) (**leaned against the wall)
Sigh. What’s to enjoy? I’ve been there from the word go. We rehearsed and rehearsed and director Rathna Shekar made the cast do 90 runs* and I saw about 83* so what’s to see?
Sometimes it’s nicer to be wrong. NIFT stage appeared different to me, and I’ve seen many plays there including Samahaara’s God and Post Office. How come? Then it occurred to me, seeing the 2 million photographs* lined on my FB wall. You see, the clothes, the expressions and the content. We asked everyone to wear what they normally would. It’s a play close to reality, see? Based on real experiences. And by Jupiter, Samahaara actors are like colors of the rainbow.
